And in thinking about it, I'm seeing everyone else in there too. Because when we are in love we are caught up in God's love - and we are not the only ones experiencing that. It is bigger than any two people, than any family, than any parish community. There is a uniqueness and a sameness with being "in love". Unique because of the uniqueness of individuals involved - but sameness because we are really not all that different. But to see it this way requires us to let our hearts be open and I think that's where it gets tricky. We can be tempted to hold on tightly to what we perceive to be our "group" or our "partner" and not let ourselves pour out - and allow others to enter in. Yet that's exactly what Jesus did so well.

I also like "anonymous" comments directly above mine. It implies having to extend ourselves infinitely into our relationships. It means going "deep" with each person we love which requires sticking with it, giving even when it hurts, and accepting pain that comes from being hurt by them. It also means admitting that we hurt them, as well, but continuing to extend ourselves to them even if we'd rather hide. In this day and age, all of that is not so common because of the sacrifice it requires. Again, Jesus does this best.

Perhaps the answer then lies in both - extending ourselves to the love of others in a horizontal fashion and in a vertical fashion. Where are we when we're in love? We're on a cross - in willing surrender.Tree of lovenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2514529524983639875.post-89367315252653763732016-04-30T15:48:01.834-04:002016-04-30T15:48:01.834-04:00God is love. The more we know him the more we are in love with him.
The quality of your relationship with God will directly affect the quality of all your relationships with people. Although life is short, the rewards of loving God, and of letting His love flow through you to other people has infinite benefits that will keep on blessing you, now and forever. The only thing that you can take to heaven with you is the people that you love. The only rewards that you have in heaven are for the times that you express love to God through obedience to Him, and the times that you allow Him to express His love for others through you. (1 Corinthians 2:9) But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” By loving and getting to know him more in a relationship the more God receives our Love.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2514529524983639875.post-44688167663833205512016-04-30T09:41:45.892-04:002016-04-30T09:41:45.892-04:00With our constant praying devoting serving living ...With our constant praying devoting serving living out our baptism in Christ.
