This is easy! Each week on Thursday I post my homily idea...my main focus for preaching this coming Sunday. What I am hoping for is a reaction from people in the pews. Does my "focus" connect with your daily life, faith, and experience? Or not? Either affirm the direction I am going in (by giving me an example from your life) or challenge me, ask for clarification! Questions are the best! Reaction rather than reflection is what I'm looking for here. Don't be afraid, get in the ring. Ole!

Pentecost Homily Prep May 19

-I will be celebrating mass this weekend at 8:00 and 12:30 on Sunday
What do I think? I think "WOW!!!" SUPER WOW!!! I also think, Wow, I want to live like that! Like, I can't wait to go to sleep tonight and wake up and try it out in the morning!
See myself tomorrow as a new creation, as Christ???!!! And then see myself Sunday ... WOW!!! ...and then Monday... WOW!
And, I find what you say to be true...the more we're living as a new creation, we naturally reach out to others in living it out... it's a natural overflow. I used to think the people at this Parish were cold, now I'm speaking with so many good and holy people striving to live life in Christ more fully.
Good night...can't wait to see this new creation in the morning!
I like hearing the connection of the Annunciation with Pentecost - two Incarnations; and then our own opportunity for transformation and communion. As I thought about the Matador's reflection I connected all of it with the Eucharistic Liturgy, and it seems that that is the perfect time and place to see and celebrate these opportunities of transformation and fellowship. I think one of the gifts of the Liturgy is that it helps us 'mark' a fresh start - we pray for transformation and conversion week after week in that communal prayer - and so each week we incorporate it into our lives a little more and our faith becomes stronger and deeper.
I could especially relate to the idea of finding the "full expression" of our identity in the Body of Christ. No one person has all the gifts - but when each individual's gifts are joined with the others a whole body is made. That's the way I feel and see it when I see everyone together at Sunday Mass. On my own I am quite limited - but when I join my self and my gifts with those around me, I become a helpful part of the greater whole. And when we actively love each other, we bring out the best in one another and the gifts are lived out even more strongly. We're better when we're all united as one - God made us that way.
Having read this I believed it was extremely enlightening. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this article together. I once again find myself spending a lot of time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worth it!
