Get into the ring! How this works...

This is easy! Each week on Thursday I post my homily idea...my main focus for preaching this coming Sunday. What I am hoping for is a reaction from people in the pews. Does my "focus" connect with your daily life, faith, and experience? Or not? Either affirm the direction I am going in (by giving me an example from your life) or challenge me, ask for clarification! Questions are the best! Reaction rather than reflection is what I'm looking for here. Don't be afraid, get in the ring. Ole!

Beautiful . . . "Jesus has already encountered us" at home; in the intimacy of our hearts where He has chosen to dwell together with us.

I love your reference to Zacchaeus of witnessing for us the “desire” to encounter Jesus – and I also appreciate you pointing out to us that Jesus challenged Zacchaeus on the nature and depth of his encounter. To encourage us in considering the Gospel message in two ways – or on two levels – was helpful for me.

The 4 D’s “down, dark, dangerous, and daily” get at the heart of helping me to assess how I might change a practice in my life. Of the four, I’d have to go with focusing on “dark”. Day to day, it’s easy to be caught up in the “doing” of things (a “D” that doesn’t belong in this story!), and it would serve me well to take more time for quiet, intimate times with Jesus – just simply loving.
