Get into the ring! How this works...

This is easy! Each week on Thursday I post my homily idea...my main focus for preaching this coming Sunday. What I am hoping for is a reaction from people in the pews. Does my "focus" connect with your daily life, faith, and experience? Or not? Either affirm the direction I am going in (by giving me an example from your life) or challenge me, ask for clarification! Questions are the best! Reaction rather than reflection is what I'm looking for here. Don't be afraid, get in the ring. Ole!

Forgive or Forget It - Again

I think this lack of forgiveness is so present in the world. It's obvious on a large scale among countries who are at war, but so sadly seen on a small and more intimate scale in our homes. I think people often give up because they don't want to sacrifice for another. The dying to self seems too hard to them or they think it unreasonable. But it's only through the sacrifice that we can enter into the life of Jesus that leads us to real communion. If we open our eyes and hearts to him we can be confident that he will teach us how to do it his way. He'll show us the path of life.

How do we see the call to be forgiven and forgiving.

oh, my gosh. One(two)Word(s): Humility/Humiliation

it's a void, a lack of Love, lack of God who is Love because of our hardness of heart. We love our own selves more than the other - definitely a lack of Love.

The enemy/enmity can be seen in pride. It divides. Certainly not union - Love.

If only we put Love into that void, even just one step beyond the pride, the hurt/pain is overcome by the Love that is beyond one's understanding, beyond one's self. There is true Peace in that. Love does reconcile; SEE the Cross.

“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law ... depend on these two commandments.”

*The whole Law* HE's not kidding. HE means it.

As we decrease/empty, HE increases/fills.

How cool is that?

I think what can appear to be lack of acceptance of forgiveness is the self-preservation from additional persecution for offenses that have been forgiven through the divinity of Christ, yet left unforgiven or unaccepted by the general congregation; thereby, leaving the forgiven struggling to heal a wound alone in Chris without the benefit of a forgiving congregation. Sometimes, our church (we the people, not the brick and mortar) can reopen wounds over an over again because we cannot see the repentance of the sinner, nor do we know the struggles and/or pain that can cause them to withdraw and become seemingly introverted and unconnected.
