Get into the ring! How this works...

This is easy! Each week on Thursday I post my homily idea...my main focus for preaching this coming Sunday. What I am hoping for is a reaction from people in the pews. Does my "focus" connect with your daily life, faith, and experience? Or not? Either affirm the direction I am going in (by giving me an example from your life) or challenge me, ask for clarification! Questions are the best! Reaction rather than reflection is what I'm looking for here. Don't be afraid, get in the ring. Ole!

Is it Good Enough to Pray?

Have you ever felt confused or disappointed by God NOT answering your prayer?    Today's gospel seems to say that simply praying  is not enough. You must have sufficient faith.  Any believer who says."God did not hear my prayer" is not believing in the God of Jesus.

Increase our faith!

I do think it's tempting to be disappointed in prayer not being answered - but on this feast of St. Theresa of Lisieux I am reminded that when I feel like that, perhaps I'm going about my prayer in the wrong way. I love this quote from her and want to learn from it, “FOR ME, PRAYER IS A SURGE OF THE HEART; IT IS A SIMPLE LOOK TURNED TOWARD HEAVEN, IT IS A CRY OF RECOGNITION AND OF LOVE, EMBRACING BOTH TRIAL AND JOY.”

Little Tess & Big Tes, what wonderful Big Sisters they have been to me in teaching the truth of intercourse! Wish Church would teach what Pupil of Hers shared that Little Tess taught ... that all doctors of prayer have taught. Even Marian Webster teaches it ...

Full Definition of intercourse
1: connection or dealings between persons or groups
2: exchange especially of thoughts or feelings : communion

It has taken me a long time to realize prayer is relationship, truly intercourse ... Would be so helpful if No. 2558 of the Catechism would print that Truth in bold letters on a page by itself.

Wow! Was further pointed to the Catechism and I am in awe of the beauty and simplicity of the opening on prayer ... Prayer as God's Gift; prayer as covenant, prayer as communion ... so sacramental, so nuptial, so all encompassing ... the Section should be renamed "Prayer IS the Christian Life".
