Get into the ring! How this works...

This is easy! Each week on Thursday I post my homily idea...my main focus for preaching this coming Sunday. What I am hoping for is a reaction from people in the pews. Does my "focus" connect with your daily life, faith, and experience? Or not? Either affirm the direction I am going in (by giving me an example from your life) or challenge me, ask for clarification! Questions are the best! Reaction rather than reflection is what I'm looking for here. Don't be afraid, get in the ring. Ole!

Is your believing "seeing"?

I'm thinking about how well your ending questions connect with a line that I like from this Scripture - "..., but if one is devout and does his will, he listens to him." I think that is the key to "seeing by believing". When we do our best to discern God's will in our lives and follow that - even when we aren't “seeing” the results we'd like to see - we find ourselves seeing as a result of faith. Of course others around us may think we are crazy - because they don't see it that way. I've been reading a lot on our Blessed Mother lately - and all of this is reminding me so much of her. From the Annunciation through to the Resurrection she could only "see" through eyes of faith. There were times when her vision was being tested by all that was happening around her. But she continued on her pilgrimage of faith, despite the sword that pierced her heart. "Blessed is she who believed." To the people around them, she and the blind man would both seem to be unlikely candidates as "chosen ones" - but their stories are guideposts for me!
