I am preaching at 5:30, 11:00 and 5:00pm masses
This is Laetare Sunday. Joy. Do you believe that everything about your existence today is "gift of God"? What's not? Why not? How do you decide?

Get into the ring! How this works...
This is easy! Each week on Thursday I post my homily idea...my main focus for preaching this coming Sunday. What I am hoping for is a reaction from people in the pews. Does my "focus" connect with your daily life, faith, and experience? Or not? Either affirm the direction I am going in (by giving me an example from your life) or challenge me, ask for clarification! Questions are the best! Reaction rather than reflection is what I'm looking for here. Don't be afraid, get in the ring. Ole!

There are so many misconceptions about JOY!!! And there are many expressions and depths and heights of Joy. Joy is not about self as much as who God is and that we are His! My favorite songs are . . .
My soul rejoices in God my Savior, my spirit finds its JOY in GOD the LIVING GOD!!! And we can REJOICE with Mary in those words.
For YOU are my G!OD, you alone are my JOY, defend me Oh Lord!!! You are my portion and cup . . .
When –if – we look through the eyes of faith, we are able to see all of life as gift. The successes and times of happiness readily make themselves known and felt as gift, but even difficulties are the same. As one of the great mystics said “our wounds become our honors.” We learn from them, are shaped by them, and, through the grace of God we often can even come to find a sense of joy in them. That is amazing grace!
Is the 5pm Mass for the young adults? Can those of us not-so-young adults go to it?
